TB Innovations

Global Health Research and Development Center (GHRC) of China

TB is a global problem that requires global solutions. The TB Alliance has been working with the International Scientific Exchange Foundation of China (ISEFC) in their effort to launch the Global Health Research & Development Center of China.

The Global Health Research & Development Center of China (GHRC) is the first Chinese not-for-profit Product Development Partnership (PDP) in China and was launched to leverage the innovation and resources within China for developing new tools that will help address neglected diseases and improve health in China and around the world.

For the fight against TB to be successful, emerging economies and endemic countries need to be both actively engaged in finding—and financing—solutions. In 2011, the TB Alliance helped support the efforts of the International Scientific Exchange Foundation of China (ISEFC), a technical public foundation dedicated to promoting and advancing scientific development, cooperation, and exchange in establishing the GHRC. This world-class organization will focus on developing innovative new treatments for public health diseases, including tuberculosis, malaria, and HIV/AIDS.

The GHRC will facilitate collaboration between public and private entities both in China and around the world, including the Chinese government, pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, and others, in the pursuit of new, affordable innovations that will help address neglected diseases and improve global health. This initiative has the potential to leverage new capabilities and resources in the fight against TB, and at the same time, develop new TB therapies in countries where they are desperately needed.
