July 29, 2005

The UN Millennium Project commissioned and published a series of action plans to outline the steps necessary to achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which include reversing tuberculosis by 2015. The theme of this year's UN summit, scheduled for September 14-16th, is the Millennium Development Goals.

The Millennium Project stresses the importance of investing in R&D for diseases of poverty. They also recommend supporting "public-private initiatives such as IAVI, DNDi, MMV and the TB Alliance, as a productive model for development if new medicines and vaccines."
