TB Alliance Announces Three Leadership Appointments

Carolyn Reynolds joins as Senior Vice President of External Affairs, Lynn Connolly as Chief Medical Officer, and Majda Benhayoun is promoted to Vice President of Clinical Operations

NEW YORK (October 5, 2026)—TB Alliance today announced three leadership appointments that strengthen the organization’s external affairs and clinical development capabilities. Carolyn Reynolds joined as Senior Vice President of External Affairs; Lynn Connolly, MD, PhD, as Chief Medical Officer; and Majda Benhayoun, PhD, was promoted to Vice President of Clinical Operations.

“Progress against TB depends on bringing together scientific rigor, clinical expertise, and sustained global commitment,” said Mel Spigelman, MD, president and CEO of TB Alliance. “Carolyn’s extensive experience mobilizing political and financial support for global health, Lynn’s leadership in infectious disease drug development, and Majda’s exceptional stewardship of our increasingly complex clinical trials will strengthen our efforts to rapidly develop the new TB therapies that are so urgently needed by millions around the world. I am delighted to welcome Carolyn and Lynn, and to congratulate Majda on this well-deserved promotion.”

As Senior Vice President of External Affairs, Reynolds will lead TB Alliance’s global engagement with partners and stakeholders to advance advocacy, policy, and resource mobilization opportunities for TB research, development, and access. She brings three decades of experience in global health and development policy, financing, and partnerships. Reynolds previously served as Vice President for Policy and Advocacy at PATH and co-founded the Pandemic Action Network, where she led global advocacy efforts to bolster pandemic preparedness and response and establish The Pandemic Fund. She also led external and corporate relations for global health and human development at the World Bank Group. Most recently, she led development of the Global Financing Facility’s 2030 strategy and helped launch its investment round.

“As governments and global health partners are under increasing pressure to demonstrate cost-effective, sustainable impact, there is a compelling case for sustained investment in the science that transforms TB treatment and, in turn, people’s lives,” said Reynolds. “TB Alliance is leading the global effort to develop faster, simpler, and more effective cures for the world’s deadliest infectious disease, and it has shown what is possible when research, partnerships, and a commitment to access and affordability come together. I’m excited to join the TB Alliance team to help expand and deepen the support needed to achieve the goal of eradicating TB.”

As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Connolly leads clinical development strategy for TB Alliance’s drug candidates, with oversight across clinical, regulatory, safety, and quality areas. She joins TB Alliance with 15 years of experience in pharmaceutical development and five years in academic medicine. She was previously the Chief Medical Officer at Qpex Biopharma, where she worked on new agents to address antimicrobial resistance. She has also held clinical development leadership roles at AN2 Therapeutics, Adagio Therapeutics, Vir Biotechnology, and Achaogen, and served on the infectious diseases faculty at the University of California, San Francisco.

“We have an opportunity to transform what TB treatment looks like for millions of people,” said Dr. Connolly. “The innovations advancing through TB Alliance’s pipeline could reshape treatment, making it shorter, simpler, and easier for people to complete. Turning that promise into evidence, and ultimately into people-friendly cures, will take rigorous clinical development and close collaboration with communities and partners around the world. I’m thrilled to be part of that effort.”

Since joining TB Alliance in 2010, Dr. Benhayoun has led the execution of complex global clinical trials and built strong partnerships across research institutions, communities, and countries worldwide. In her new role as Vice President, Clinical Operations, she will continue to oversee TB Alliance’s clinical trial operations, data management and clinical supply activities and help advance the development of new treatments for TB. Dr. Benhayoun brings more than three decades of global clinical research experience and has helped guide the organization’s growing portfolio of multinational studies. Her leadership has been instrumental in ensuring the successful execution of clinical programs that support the organization’s mission to develop better, faster-acting, and more accessible treatments for people affected by this disease.

“Clinical trials depend on the commitment of participants, communities, research teams, and partners across many countries,” said Dr. Benhayoun. “It has been a privilege to work alongside them at TB Alliance, and I’m honored to take on this role as we continue advancing treatments that could make a meaningful difference for people with TB.”
