As Senior Director of Preclinical Drug Development, Dean is responsible for helping create and implement the research and pre-clinical development strategy of the TB Alliance.

Dean has more than 24 years of experience supporting multidisciplinary teams with pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism and translational sciences expertise from early discovery, through development and NDA filing, and post marketing across multiple therapeutic areas at Abbott Laboratories (1996 to 2004) and Amgen (2004 to 2019).  Since 2020 he has been assisting discovery and lead optimization efforts for small biotech companies both as a consultant and subsequently as VP for Preclinical and Translational Sciences at Arclight Therapeutics, a neurodegenerative disease focused startup.

He received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Toxicology from the University of Surrey, and subsequently received his D.Phil. at the University of Oxford applying molecular biology and enzyme kinetics to study the human clinical polymorphisms of N-acetyltransferase.  His post-doctoral experience includes development of in vitro drug metabolism assays to inform the clinical drug-drug interaction potential of new medicines.
