Unite to End TB

Tuberculosis (TB) is the deadliest infectious disease in the world, affecting 10.4 million people and killing 1.8 million in 2015. TB is a scourge of families: it is a top-five killer of women in their reproductive years and a major killer of the young—a large majority of the estimated 1 million children who fall ill with TB every year are never able to access proper care and treatment, resulting in almost 600 children dying from a preventable and curable disease each day. The growing threat of drug-resistant TB highlights the critical need for new solutions to address the global TB epidemic, including improved diagnostic tools, treatments, and vaccines, as well as strengthened, integrated health care systems.

UNICEF and TB Alliance invite you to join us in New York on World TB Day 2017 to participate in an interactive installation developed by the Louder than TB Campaign and listen to leaders in the fight against TB, including people whose lives have been directly affected by TB.

Speakers include:

  • Stefan Peterson, Chief, Health Section,UNICEF

  • Rajneesh “Raj” Taneja, Senior Director, Pharmaceutical Product Development, TB Alliance

  • Chewe Luo, Chief of HIV/AIDS, Programme Division, UNICEF

  • Mel Spigelman, President & CEO, TB Alliance
