He will bring more than 20 years of global and country level experience in TB and a people-centered approach to his role on the committee

NEW YORK (July 14, 2021)—TB Alliance is excited to announce that Dr. Suvanand Sahu has joined its Access Advisory Committee (AAC). Dr. Sahu is a medical doctor and public health expert and will bring over 25 years of experience, including more than 20 years in tuberculosis (TB), to the committee.

“We are so pleased to add Dr. Sahu to our Access Advisory Committee,” said Sandeep Juneja, Senior Vice President, Market Access at TB Alliance. “His experiences in both treating TB patients and his work to end TB at a global level will be an invaluable contribution to our mission at TB Alliance.”

Dr. Sahu is the Deputy Executive Director of the Stop TB Partnership in Geneva. He began his medical career in India and continued to work at a global level to fight infectious diseases like TB. He has centered his work around universal access to TB prevention and care, access to new tools, innovations in care delivery and people-centered approaches.

“We need innovations in the treatment of tuberculosis,” said Dr. Sahu. “I’m looking forward to joining the Access Advisory Committee and to partner with TB Alliance to develop creative solutions to help in the fight to end TB and bring better treatment options to people in need around the world.”

The AAC assists, supports, and advises TB Alliance on strategies and approaches to achieve adoption, availability, and affordability of new treatment regimens. Dr. Sahu’s perspectives as a physician as well as a public health expert—particularly as a physician from India, the country with the highest burden of TB—will bring a pragmatic approach to help shape the future of TB treatments, to keep patients’ needs top of mind, and to find innovative solutions to break barriers that patients currently face.
