The Asian network of the Coalition for TB R&D from High Endemic Countries held its first conference on May 2-4, 2001, in Penang, Malaysia.
The event was hosted by the government of Malaysia and based on the initiative of Prof. Visweswaran Navaratnam, with the support of Global Alliance Scientific Advisory Committee member Dr. Bernard Fourie. The conference brought together investigators and researchers from all over Asia.
