2005 Stakeholders Association Meeting

Each year the Stakeholders Association of the TB Alliance convenes to evaluate recent progress to accelerate and ensure the development of new, faster-acting drugs that will revolutionize TB control.

The following is a summary of the 2005 meeting, including a complete list of presentations following the introductory text.

On October 17, 2005, formal and informal stakeholders of the TB Alliance gathered in Paris and discussed the dramatic progress made over the last five years towards developing the most comprehensive TB drug pipeline in nearly half a century. The meeting brought together a range of organizations from around the world who shared their ideas on how to build on the Alliance's progress and help achieve the world's goal of eradicating TB by 2050.

At the meeting, the TB Alliance officially announced its partnership with Bayer Healthcare AG to study the potential of moxifloxacin to significantly reduce the time it takes to treat TB. Click here to read more on the announcement.

The Stakeholders Association comprises institutions which have formally pledged to support the organization in its mission and signed the 2000 Cape Town Declaration which formed the TB Alliance. Since the input of the broader global health community is an important component of the annual meeting, outside participants are welcome to join by invitation each year.
