Program and Project Management Opportunity


This position is responsible for cross functional program management and project coordination of assigned initiatives across TB Alliance.  This position contributes to the success of TB Alliance initiatives by facilitating internal planning and execution activities, liaising with external constituents, and ensuring accurate and timely communications with all concerned. 

The core assignment is facilitating an initiative, in collaboration with Stellenbosch University, to develop pediatric formulations of priority second line drugs and prepare the market for adoption and uptake. The incumbent will serve as a focal point for TB Alliance, monitoring the field of pediatric TB, monitoring and reporting TB Alliance progress in this field, and identifying opportunities for TB Alliance intervention.

The second assignment is coordinating development and ongoing management of market forecasts for projected use of TB Alliance drugs and regimens.    

Position description:

  • Drive internal planning processes, including work plan and timeline development, and liaise with outside parties to ensure alignment.
  • Ensure accurate budget development and ongoing management.
  • Coordinate with Market Access team on market sensitization activities and product forecasting, interact as needed with global health constituents.
  • Coordinate with External Affairs team on content for periodic donor reporting and other donor relationship activities.
  • Coordinate with Product Development/R&D team on timelines for execution of third-party activities with laboratories, manufacturers, and others.
  • Coordinate with Communications team to provide content for activities, announcements, and other awareness building.
  • Maintain and monitor progress including tracking activities and milestones. Identify obstacles and barriers. Raise and escalate issues for resolution.
  • Plan agendas and content for internal and external meetings. Prepare and distribute meeting notes.  May be required to plan larger-scale meetings and/or events, as required.
  • Perform other activities on behalf of assigned initiatives, as needed, including drafting publications/proposals/reports and representing the TB Alliance at specific events/meetings as requested.
  • Additional responsibilities/projects may be incorporated into the role as needed.
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable GxP regulations in performing the functions of the job.  Attendance at annual GxP or other applicable regulatory trainings provided by TB Alliance.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • 5 or more years’ program coordination and project management experience in public or global health, and/or international development, plus a relevant undergraduate degree.
  • Master’s degree is preferred.  The position is designed for a self-starter who is versatile and able to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a matrix structure.
  • Strong project management experience, using commonly accepted project planning and management tactics and tools.
  • Strong interest in global and public health. A working knowledge of drug development and/or TB treatment landscape would be ideal.
  • Experience in market projections and forecasting in global health would be ideal.
  • Good computer skills; database or other information management experience desired.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing needs and priorities; proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with little direction.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and flexible. Resourcefulness is critical.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and work with people from different cultures and different levels of authority.
  • Ability to think strategically and articulate organizational and program information to varied audiences.
  • Ability to work in a team and individually; quick learner with ability to work under pressure.
