Director, Alliance Management

Summary:

Reporting to the Head of Program and Alliance Management, this position will manage global research and development alliances and will work in collaboration with internal cross-functional teams and external partners or consortia to manage the relationship and ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the collaboration.  Provide project management support for teams to facilitate preparation of project plans, including timelines and budget, and track progress towards milestones and key deliverables.

Position description:

  • Manage day-to-day alliance activities, while fostering and maintaining collaborative working relationships
  • Coordinate with other functions as needed to facilitate work and ensure completion of objectives e.g. Business Development for timely review and execution of legal agreements, External Affairs to contribute to timely donor reporting and to support content development for fundraising proposals
  • Define joint operating norms with external partners (communication, decision-making) and build processes and infrastructure to support efficient information sharing and collaboration
  • Act as primary point of contact for assigned collaborations to facilitate communications with the partner organization and within TB Alliance; communicate proactively and bidirectionally to represent the partner’s needs to TB Alliance management and team(s) and represent TB Alliance’s perspective to partners
  • Work with internal cross-functional colleagues to prioritize tasks, manage responsibilities, assess resource needs, mitigate risks, and ensure alliance objectives are achieved
  • Responsible for executive level communication and deliverables including briefing management on key developments, critical issues and preparations for joint committee meetings
  • Provide logistical support to joint meetings through input to and communications about agendas, minutes and follow-up actions and next steps
  • Proactively track, monitor, and communicate contractual obligations to ensure deliverables are met
  • Ensure timely and efficient decision-making, aligned with internal decision-making structure and in accord with governance for collaboration
  • Manage alliance risks and issues by proactively identifying potential delays, gaps or conflicts, assisting with resolution and escalating when appropriate
  • Coordinate key business activities across collaboration, including budgeting and goal setting
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable GxP regulations in performing the functions of the job and completion of applicable regulatory trainings provided by TB Alliance.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • A minimum of 10+ years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience,

including global drug development experience in the pharmaceutical, life sciencesorrelatedindustry

  • Bachelor’s Degree in biomedical sciences or other discipline related to drug development. Advanced degree (MS, MBA, Pharm.D., Ph.D.) preferred
  • Strong program/project management experience supporting comprehensive cross-functional initiatives, with internal and external deliverables. 
  • Experience in a collaboration/partnership, as well as the ability to understand strategic aspects of the relationship.
  • Collaborative team player with strong communication and relationship management skills, including the ability to resolve conflicts effectively and diplomatically
  • Experience building relationships and influencing without authority to achieve collaboration objectives
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
